LaCa Knit is an ongoing knitwear and textile practice by Launa Camilla, shaped through material exploration, texture, and contemporary knit structures.
Growing up between Paris and Oslo, the practice is informed by Scandinavian minimalism, calmer tones, and subtle forms of expression, alongside the attention to detail and understated sense of style encountered through life in Paris.
Early memories of hand-knitted pullovers made by her great grandmother, woven rugs slowly developing on the loom, and a close relationship to traditional textile craft continue to inform the work today.
Now based in Vienna, knitting has become both a creative and tactile space for exploration. Through yarn, texture, repetition, and structure, knitted surfaces gradually develop atmosphere, softness, and form.
Natural fibers, tactile surfaces, and traditional knit references continue to shape the visual language of the work.
Alongside an interest in contemporary knitwear and textile construction, the work remains rooted in the slower and more meditative qualities of making, creating space for observation, process, and material sensitivity within an increasingly fast-moving world.
The work moves between traditional textile references and contemporary knitted forms, with a particular attention to texture, composition, and material presence.
